Our beautiful Burro Trio has landed in their new home in Southlake, Texas. This is a fun placement by Jane DeDecker and the National Sculptors' Guild. Sometimes it's nice to have something light-hearted like this to work on. The Donkey's were commissioned by the city to pay tribute to the history of the site. Our installation for this has been on hold due to the pandemic, so we are so happy to see it actualized today. We hope the visitors to Southlake Commons love being greeted by this charismatic family. #PublicArt NSG Placement 525 The bronze is available as a limited edition as a set or individually, add them to your art collection, shop online here. Update 2/20/2019: Jane has been busy adding clay to the armatures and the Burro Trio enlargement is nearly complete. They are coming to life and showing so much personality. #WIP 1/15/19: We are thrilled to have a new project with the City of Southlake. This time it's a fun homage to the burros that called the area being developed home: "When plans for Southlake Commons were brought forward, the developer Sage Group, Inc. and the City Council agreed to place a bronze donkey sculpture near the Southlake Boulevard entrance to commemorate the property’s history." The city came to NSG seeking an artist, and we of course recommended one of the nation's top figurative sculptors, Jane DeDecker. She's captured the quirky personality of the treasured donkey's so well, it's a perfect fit. In the initial clay sketch: Depicted are two adults and a baby. One adult shows affection to the baby and the other looks off in a direction of a sound - showing both the nurturing and inquisitive curiosity of burros. Michael Warrick and the National Sculptors' Guild has installed "Mockingbird Tree" an 18-ft tall stainless steel sculpture in Southlake, Texas at the Zena Rucker Road/Tower Boulevard Roundabout. 2/1/2019: We're thrilled to have another project in the works with the City of Southlake. Michael Warrick and the National Sculptors' Guild won their latest competition with the pictured design of "Mockingbird Tree". The 18-ft tall stainless steel sculpture Celebrates the tree as one of Texas' natural resources; incorporates three mockingbirds (the Texas state bird) and creates a playful image that engages the public's imagination. Once complete, it will be placed in a roundabout that will bring together and connect a residential, retail and medical space near Park Village in Southlake, TX. The three elements are represented in the sculpture by the gold-leafed birds. “Mockingbird Tree” by Michael Warrick and the National Sculptors’ Guild is fabricated and ready to install in Southlake, Texas. The 18-ft Stainless Steel stylized tree sculpture features three gold-leaf mockingbirds perched in the abstracted branches. The Mockingbird is Texas' State Bird and three are used as symbols connecting the residential, retail, and medical space that branch off the roundabout where it will be placed. The location is home to Park Village, a high-end retail and restaurant space. The location is also home to a medical complex that houses Southlake Family Medicine. The residential subdivision is “Winding Creek.” Winding Creek is a luxury neighborhood situated on 46 acres with trails, ponds and water features located throughout the development. Below are images of the sculpting process. Weighing in at an impressive 10,000 lbs the National Sculptors' Guild just set this granite obelisk for the DeSoto, Texas Military Memorial located at the Historic Nance Farm. JK Designs' John Kinkade also designed an ornamental knot garden and pedestrian walk to adorn the 7ft tall monument creating a new site for community memorial gatherings and personal reflections. #DesotoTexas #MilitaryMemorial
The National Sculptors' Guild just completed our latest installation in Southlake, Texas. Kathleen Caricof's Texas Stars design was selected by the City for placement at their new community event center The Marq.
A celestial-inspired artwork representing the community of Southlake, this design reflects the population's ability to stand tall for their ideals. Three fabricated steel stars serve as symbols of Strength, Honor and Excellence as well as becoming a beautiful tribute to the wide open sky; a broader pride for the state of Texas; and an iconic sculptural statement for The Marq Southlake. This placement consists of three fabricated stainless steel stars, each measuring roughly seven to ten feet tall. The stars vary slightly from one other. The tall ‘leg’ of each star secures to poured concrete cylindrical pedestals of differing heights. The varying lengths of the ‘legs’ and heights of the concrete pedestals staggering the total height. The various heights of each star were partially determined by the views from the inside of The Marq building as well as from the pedestrian walkway so that the installation is engaging from both the vantage points. The National Sculptors' Guild placed Sandy Scott's "Sovereign Wings" bronze sculpture in Trophy Club, Texas. Measuring 8-feet high with a wingspan of 14-feet, the massive scale reinforces the majestic grandeur of the national bird. The American Bald Eagle has been and remains a favorite subject and motif for Sandy. 1997 NSG Public Art Placement 48 #Throwback #NationalSculptorsGuild #PublicArt #NSG #SandyScott #Bronze #SovereignWings #TrophyClub #Texas #Eagle #WildlifeArt #SculptureIsATeamSport #ArtistDriven #ClientMinded |
