The central theme of my work is celebrating the gift of life. Most of my work in the last few years has been commissioned. I enjoy the challenge of combining the client’s vision and needs with my own ideas to create lasting depictions of significant memories in their lives. Although I am open to considering many concepts involving the human figure, I am particularly drawn to capturing subjects in motion. Movement, after all, is what captures our attention. Children at play and athletes in motion are my favorite subjects because of the passion for life they demonstrate. It is a constant challenge to capture these qualities in bronze and pass that on to the viewer. When developing each new sculpture my primary concern is artistic integrity.GARY ALSUM

​For more than two decades, Gary has worked with clients in bringing their unique vision to reality in bronze.  He has numerous memorials, depictions of historical events and moments from everyday life placed in public and private collections throughout the United States – from Maine to Hawaii to Florida.
'The central theme of my work has always been to celebrate the gift of life.  My goal is create work that stands on its own artistic merit regardless of subject matter. Combining a client's vision and community input and needs with my own interpretation usually starts out as a challenge but is particularly satisfying. Those projects are team efforts where we all can win.'

The memories and the imagery of the small Midwestern community where he was born and raised; its family, its sense of freedom as a youth, its sense of community, and its people have been a source of inspiration. Through his bronze sculpture, he captures a timeless intimacy for the viewer. His art is known for its energy, movement and technical mastery. Both his figurative and his wildlife work share a powerful yet elegant quality, drawn from his classical approach to sculpture. He travels extensively and draws on these experiences in creating his art. His work, which is created in his studios in Colorado, ranges in size from table top to monumental. His editions and commissions grace many private collections and public art programs. Inspiring a connection and curiosity between the viewer and the world of animals has been my focus for many years. A lifetime spent observing and working with animals has only served to heighten my interest. My inspiration comes in sharing the lives and expressions of my animal subjects through my work to foster a better understanding. It is intensely personal and honest. His themes are recurring: Spirit, Love, Forgiveness, Healing, Relationship, Endurance, the Sacredness of the Human Spirit, and the Strength in each of us, the Power of all that is Natural Denny Haskew currently resides in Loveland, Colorado where he is actively engaged in the art industry as a sculptor. He received his degree from the University of Utah, then served two years in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Having spent numerous years as a guide and ski instructor, Denny has learned to love the rivers and mountains of the western states of Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Oregon, and Utah. After moving to Loveland, a hub of successful working sculptors, he wasted no time in getting monumental sculpture experience through working with renowned sculptors including Fritz White and Kent Ullberg N.A. Since 1987, Denny has created and placed dozens of monumental compositions; spanning the full spectrum of the figurative genre. As a member of the Potawatomi Citizen Nation, it is only natural for his artwork to follow the Native American culture. His art has not been limited to Native American and southwestern subjects, however, as he frequently explores abstract forms placing emphasis on the qualities of the metal and stone used. As a Charter member of the National Sculptors' Guild and being close to other sculptors and the Loveland area foundries has helped him to master all the foundry processes involved in producing a desirable and lasting monumental bronze sculpture. Over 50 major public placements include the Smithsonian Institution, DC.; the Gilcrease Museum, OK; Cerritos, CA; Little Rock, AR; the Shakopee Mdewakanton Dakota Sioux collection, MN, and the Barona Band of Mission Indians, CA. His outlook on life and sculpture largely stems from his Irish/Potawatomi heritage. He states DENNY HASKEW

My best work has regret and relief and sometimes I throw wrenches. I steal natural shapes for my sculpture. Animal bones and river stones feel familiar in my gut. They’re all over the place, and they’re beautiful. I take emotional resonance and apply it to beautiful shapes. The right emotion AND the right shape just might be powerful to the right person. Maybe it is a small example of how to practice BOTH AND in addition to EITHER OR. My intent is to make art that contributes to a wider conversation about justice and care and our impact on the world. Joe Norman graduated with a degree in engineering from Stanford University prior to careers in product design consulting, education, and fine art. His furniture and sculpture explore environments that support and promote communities. Many of his designs are direct results of working with schools, families, and businesses to develop places that encourage people to work and be together in positive and supportive ways. Joe believes that gathering places feed the soul of our communities; that it is around our kitchens or with our feet propped up on coffee tables that we have some of our most important conversations. He thinks the most important part of his work isn’t the tables he makes, but rather it is about the people that are sitting around them. In other words, we do not need more stuff in our lives that does not bring us together in community. Joe’s furniture is made with recycled and environmentally conscious processes and materials whenever possible; he considers the earth itself as an important member of our global community. In fact, many of his ideas in were born from wrecking yards, recycling centers, and retired bicycles. His machine shop is powered by renewable wind energy.JOE NORMAN

Salge moves beyond anatomically accurate rendering to capture the essence of the personality of his subject. He enjoys finding the balance between the literal and the figurative. "When I create, I attempt to emphasize both contemporary and classic design elements: line, space, texture and color reflected by intricate patinas. My abstracted human and animal figures are then cast in small limited editions. Bronze is the ideal medium to continue this melding of old and new with my signature style resulting in the expression of attitude or emotion."

Years of experience as a professional guide in the remote wilderness of northern Canada has informed Tim's sculpture, inspiring him to create authentic and artistic interpretations of the wildlife that has so profoundly affected his life.

DEE CLEMENTS
Wildlife bronze sculpture by DARRELL DAVIS available at Columbine Gallery home of the National Sculptors' Guild Colorado's Largest Fine Art Source Specialists in Public Art Composition is what drives the work of Darrell Davis. His journey in sculpture began after a visit to Brookgreen Gardens, Murrells inlet South Carolina, as a teenager. After receiving a BFA from The University of Texas at Arlington he enrolled in the Graduate School of Architecture`s landscape program. Wildlife sculptor, Darrell Davis, knew at age 15 he wanted to be a sculptor after visiting the South Carolina’s Brookgreen Sculpture Garden. Davis studied art as an undergraduate at the University of Texas at Arlington, and took graduate classes in landscape architecture also at the University of Texas. In 2013 Darrell was awarded the Gold Medal and Maurice B Hexter prize at the National Sculpture Society 80th Annual Exhibition held at the Tampa Museum of Art and Brookgreen Gardens SC. Darrell is a signature member of the National Sculpture Society, American Society of Marine Artists, Society of Animal Artists, and California Art Club. Darrell Davis was born in 1962 in rural west Texas but spent his early years in the Los Angeles area. From these two disparate worlds, Davis’ love of seeming contradiction emerged. Those diverse experiences and viewpoints were seeds that play out magnificently in his work today and he strives to learn, grow and push this envelope in every new piece. In a style that he and a few of his contemporaries lovingly refer to as impatient realism, he touches his audience. Combining the softness, fluidity and grace of his living subjects with the clean hard geometric, all while maintaining structure and composition, he manages to meld the two into something more powerful and impactful. “I love the idea of mixing the geometric, almost architectural shapes, with that of the free flowing organic. There is just something about sharp geometric lines juxtaposed with the organic curvilinear lines of nature that intrigues me of late.” “I guess its really an attempt to mesh the man-made world with the natural world. It’s a conundrum that I’m intrigued with abstraction and that of traditional realism. A large amount of abstraction is much too cold and dehumanizing, while a large amount of contemporary realism is simply stiff modeling of a subject. I fight to avoid both of those traps in my compositions. Sometimes you succeed and sometimes you don’t.” In the end, to me, the art of sculpture is all about balance, mass, composition, and gravity.” Darrell’s amazing ability to utilize convergent scientific thinking with the more divergent thinking traditionally associated with art produces works that affect both the right and left brain providing a pleasing balance. Davis was recently awarded the National Sculpture Society’s Gold Medal and Maurice B. Hexter prize at its 80th annual Exhibition held at the Tampa Museum of Art and Brookgreen Gardens. Born and raised in Tennessee, Clay participated in the Governor's school for the Fine Arts before earning his BFA from Wheaton College in Illinois. He has been self-employed and living as a sculptor in Colorado Springs since 1996.

Through his bronze sculpture, he captures a timeless intimacy for the viewer. His art is known for its energy, movement and technical mastery. Both his figurative and his wildlife work share a powerful yet elegant quality, drawn from his classical approach to sculpture. He travels extensively and draws on these experiences in creating his art. His work, which is created in his studios in Colorado, ranges in size from table top to monumental. His editions and commissions grace many private collections and public art programs. Inspiring a connection and curiosity between the viewer and the world of animals has been my focus for many years. A lifetime spent observing and working with animals has only served to heighten my interest. My inspiration comes in sharing the lives and expressions of my animal subjects through my work to foster a better understanding. My sculpture has been placed in public collections including Liberty National Bank, SD, Benson Sculpture Park, Loveland, CO, Vogel Schwartz Sculpture Garden, Little Rock, AR, Wildlife Experience, Parker, CO, the Longmont Humane Society, Longmont, CO, Boulder Community Hospital, Boulder, CO, San Diego Natural History Museum, San Diego, CA, and Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum, Wausau, WI as well as in other locations. It is intensely personal and honest. His themes are recurring: Spirit, Love, Forgiveness, Healing, Relationship, Endurance, the Sacredness of the Human Spirit, and the Strength in each of us, the Power of all that is Natural Denny Haskew currently resides in Loveland, Colorado where he is actively engaged in the art industry as a sculptor. He received his degree from the University of Utah, then served two years in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Having spent numerous years as a guide and ski instructor, Denny has learned to love the rivers and mountains of the western states of Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Oregon, and Utah. After moving to Loveland, a hub of successful working sculptors, he wasted no time in getting monumental sculpture experience through working with renowned sculptors including Fritz White and Kent Ullberg N.A. Since 1987, Denny has created and placed dozens of monumental compositions; spanning the full spectrum of the figurative genre. As a member of the Potawatomi Citizen Nation, it is only natural for his artwork to follow the Native American culture. His art has not been limited to Native American and southwestern subjects, however, as he frequently explores abstract forms placing emphasis on the qualities of the metal and stone used. As a Charter member of the National Sculptors' Guild and being close to other sculptors and the Loveland area foundries has helped him to master all the foundry processes involved in producing a desirable and lasting monumental bronze sculpture. Over 50 major public placements include the Smithsonian Institution, DC.; the Gilcrease Museum, OK; Cerritos, CA; Little Rock, AR; the Shakopee Mdewakanton Dakota Sioux collection, MN, and the Barona Band of Mission Indians, CA. His outlook on life and sculpture largely stems from his Irish/Potawatomi heritage. He states

My best work has regret and relief and sometimes I throw wrenches. I steal natural shapes for my sculpture. Animal bones and river stones feel familiar in my gut. They’re all over the place, and they’re beautiful. I take emotional resonance and apply it to beautiful shapes. The right emotion AND the right shape just might be powerful to the right person. Maybe it is a small example of how to practice BOTH AND in addition to EITHER OR. My intent is to make art that contributes to a wider conversation about justice and care and our impact on the world. Joe Norman graduated with a degree in engineering from Stanford University prior to careers in product design consulting, education, and fine art. His furniture and sculpture explore environments that support and promote communities. Many of his designs are direct results of working with schools, families, and businesses to develop places that encourage people to work and be together in positive and supportive ways. Joe believes that gathering places feed the soul of our communities; that it is around our kitchens or with our feet propped up on coffee tables that we have some of our most important conversations. He thinks the most important part of his work isn’t the tables he makes, but rather it is about the people that are sitting around them. In other words, we do not need more stuff in our lives that does not bring us together in community. Joe’s furniture is made with recycled and environmentally conscious processes and materials whenever possible; he considers the earth itself as an important member of our global community. In fact, many of his ideas in were born from wrecking yards, recycling centers, and retired bicycles. His machine shop is powered by renewable wind energy.

Wildlife bronze sculpture by SANDY SCOTT available at Columbine Gallery home of the National Sculptors' Guild Colorado's Largest Fine Art Source Specialists in Public Art A licensed pilot for more than thirty years, she feels her knowledge of aerodynamics has been helpful in achieving the illusion of movement in her bird sculpture. The Thomas Gilcrease Museum honored Sandy with a major retrospective exhibition in “Rendezvous ‘98”. Spirit of the Wild Things, a book about Sandy’s work was published the same year. Congratulations to Sandy for her recent accolades from the Briscoe Western Art Museum, honoring her with the Legacy Award. Sandy Scott received her formal art training at the Kansas City Art Institute and later worked as an animation background artist for the motion picture industry. She turned her attention to etchings and printmaking in the 1970’s and to sculpture in the 1980’s. Born in Dubuque, Iowa in 1943 and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, she is now headquartered in Lander, Wyoming near the foundry that casts her bronzes and she maintains studios on Lake of the Woods, Ontario, Canada and in the mountains of northern Colorado. Surrounded by mountains, lakes and streams, she is an avid outdoorswoman who loves to hunt and fish. In Canada her friends Dave and Michelle Beaushane who own Nestor Falls Fly-In Outposts frequently fly her and Trish (her long time friend who manages the business end of things) to remote lakes and portages north of Kenora, Ontario. She has made 16 trips to Alaska and has been to Europe, Russia, China and South America to visit the world’s great museums. She believes wildlife artists should be in the field to accurately present their subject to the viewer. Her work is authentic. She has experienced and lived what she depicts.

Originally from Illinois, he was drawn to Arkansas’ scenery and outdoor activities. “That’s had a direct influence on the type of work that I do, in terms of the ideas, materials, and the subjects,” Warrick says. “It’s been the most dynamic influence of my life, being here in this place.”
