NSG Fellow Denny Haskew and the National Sculptors' Guild installed "Spirit of the West" in on the main street of Historic Downtown Erie, Colorado . This sculpture pulls from the roots of 1874 Erie into its contemporary context. Erie's vibrancy stems from its steadfast progressive forward motion represented by the powerful, yet graceful horse - the driving force being health and vitality. The commissioners selected the unique charcoal patina for the horse - an homage to the town's deep roots in coal mining.
